Jason Reiger
The summer of 2003, after the 30 th Anniversary AMSOIL Convention, Dealer Bret Boster met Jason Rieger in Wahpeton North Dakota. Jason was preparing for the start of his second year in college. Money was tight and Jason was willing to do anything to keep his car, a 1990 Buick Regal Limited with 200,000 miles, on the road. Friends told Jason a junk yard wouldn’t take the car even if he offered them $100. The condition of the car was less than desirable for most to accept. The engine and transmission had never been touched and the running condition was getting worse. Rust peeked from under the paint at virtually every seam, fender, and door. After some long thought and weighing all the options, Jason asked to try the XL-7500 5W-30 in his car with an engine flush.
Fast forward to January 13 th 2005, North Dakota and much of the Midwest were gripped with subzero temperatures. As Jason was preparing for work at 5am, a co-worker with a 2001 Ford F-250 Powerstroke was having problems starting his truck. The temperature was warming up to 27 degrees below zero and the truck had been plugged in all night. It was simply to cold for the truck to start. Jason watched with concern knowing he didn’t have a block heater and the car had now sat for more than 10 hours, unprotected, head into the wind. Not even a few slow cranks could keep his AMSOIL packing Buick from starting. Complete disbelief overwhelmed the co-worker. When asked how Jason got his car started, without missing a beat, Jason’s replied, “With AMSOIL….you should try it.”
Jason’s Buick now has over 235,000 miles on the odometer. In summer of 2004, he switched from the XL over to the ASL 5W-30 so he didn’t have to change oil in the winter. When asked how Jason feels about his car now, Jason responded with, “I’m thinking about the air filter you offer. With only a half-mile to work each morning, I’d like it to run a little faster.” As for the co-worker, he hitched a ride…with the job van a few hours later, to proud to ride in the rusting, AMSOIL packing Buick.
